Top 1989 Songs – #10: And So It Goes

Cracking the top 10 is a song that not many people know, but it is one of my favorite Billy Joel songs of all time. It’s a haunting song and one I loved to play on the piano. I guess I’m just surprised that it isn’t as recognized as We Didn’t Start the Fire and I Go To Extremes. Grabbing the #10 spot is And So It Goes by Billy Joel.

Top 1979 Songs – #10: Rock With You

In all the bands that I’ve been in lately, whenever the drummer played that signature intro you knew you were going right into this song. I know all the talk lately hasn’t been positive about MJ but he did have some great songs, and this one is no exception. Breaking into the top 10 at #10 is Rock With You by Michael Jackson.

Top 1979 Songs – #11: Hot Stuff

While I just found other songs that made more of an impact on me and my life, I still actually like this one more than Bad Girls, and it’s part of a great scene in the movie The Full Monty, where the guys in the unemployment line hear this song, and can’t stop doing some small dance moves to it. Of all the songs on this countdown, this is the one my wife hates the most. I had to put it on here because I liked the song a lot back when it was released. I guess a silver lining for her was that it didn’t break the top 10, lol. Nevertheless, at #11 it’s She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals. We have now reached the point of this countdown where I will share all the songs that are honorable mentions which didn’t make this countdown, but were considered (in no particular order): What Kind of Man Would …..more →

Top 1979 Songs – #12: Another Brick In The Wall

This song wasn’t as big a hit for me until my high-school and college years. By that time, I started having a greater appreciation for Pink Floyd and this song, because of its length, got played many times on my radio dial. There are a lot of great songs that came off The Wall (and yes we’ll be getting to them in later countdowns), but this one was released in 1979. At #12, we got Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 by Pink Floyd.
