Bedroom Jams

The Sultan, throughout 2003 & 2004, was gracious enough to allow XINGU the chance to practice and compose music in the bedroom of his lair. The resulting jam sessions from that year helped produce a plethora of new material, the foundation of a lot of your favorite XINGU tunes, and also gave the band a chance to experiment in many different styles, genres, and techniques.

Now, XINGU has allowed some of those secret jams to become available for listening here. These Bedroom Jams offer a glimpse into the mind of XINGU. A word of warning: these jams will only be available for a limited time!

Bedroom Jam of the Month
April 2004 72 Miles, a new tune that continues to evolve, is making the rounds of XINGU shows.  More than a dozen versions of this song were previously recorded, but it is this 72 Miles Jam (16:20), one that Tony G. calls the best recorded raw version of the song, shown in its entirety, on which he based the creation of this epic.

March 2004 It was Jamie's birthday, and the end result was a whole evening of jamming.  Three major jams were created, but this one seemed to be the best, with each part adding a new layer on top of another until all five members were in the pocket.  No worries with preconceptions or errors, anything went in this jam so large, called Jamie's Birthday Jam (16:30), we had to break it down into three parts.  (WARNING: technical difficulties resulted in the recording having about 5 random breaks of silence during the jam.)

January 2004 As the tune Highway slowly developed from its initial theme, there was the need for a theme of a different style. Enter the jam originally called Spy Tango (13:22).
